Lift, Hold. Lift, FREEZE.

This morning I woke up feeling refreshed and rested. I knew it had to be because it rained the night before because I always sleep well on nights it rains. It made me a bit sad though because I knew that it was the last remnants of the storm that blew away so many homes on Monday in Oklahoma.

I got out of bed and went straight to the shower before looking outside because I knew I'd need some hot water to wake me up on a day like today. I saw a girl in my Pure Barre class last week who wore her hair curly and ever since then I've wanted to do the same. So I diffused my hair and threw on some yoga pants and a t-shirt for my Pure Barre class.

I didn't have to put on make-up because I was going to work out. But I'll be honest for a moment and say that working out was merely an excuse for me to not wear make-up. I hate wearing it in the summer time because well I get hot and make-up makes me feel like I can't breathe. So to actually have a valid excuse not to wear make-up is a win-win for me.

I've been going to Pure Barre classes in the last week. A lot of people ask what it is like, and I tell them that it is supposed to be a mix of ballet meets yoga meets pilates. I tell them that because it is what I was told.

What I'd like to tell them is that it is 60 minutes of getting your butt kicked and afterwards you somehow leaving smiling about it all.

But seriously, Pure Barre is awesome. And it's hard.

You know I love running, but this works muscles that running does not. And I'm sore. But in a "hurts so good" kinda way.

I can tell it is going to be something that will be my "other love" outside of running and that's good. It'll be a good form of cross-training which will make me a better, stronger, faster runner.

And ain't nobody got a problem with that!

I listened to this year's installment of Big Mama and Boo Mama's podcast on the way there and on the way back.  I laughed so hard I cried and my sides hurt on the way home, because that is what happens after 60 minutes of "Lift, hold. Lift, FREEZE" aka a Pure Barre workout. (And P.S. one of the reasons among the many that I love Big Mama and Boo Mama is because they love a good baseball game. It's something I really miss about living down south near my best girlfriends.)

I ate a quick Costco chicken salad sandwich and headed off to a Mock Trial Board meeting. It was fruitful and then because I was feeling extra productive I decided that I'd actually read this week's assignment for Secured Transactions.

Okay fine! My productivity levels might have partly been due to the fact that a) I promised I wouldn't watch Scandal without Brandon and 2) the fact that the sun wasn't shining so that meant the pool wasn't an option.

But hey, at least I got some homework done.

Now I'm about to treat myself to an episode of Call the Midwife while eating one of my favorite afternoon snacks grapes and Greek yogurt. (My inner fat girl doesn't even know who I am anymore.) Or maybe I'll finish the RHONJ marathon that I DVRed from yesterday. It is after all back when I liked Teresa and before it all went to her head.

I've got options people.

Here's to another day of living the housewife at a time.

I've heard about Pure Barre a couple times through Twitter but never heard about it in my area. I'm going to have to have to check into this.

I freaking love Pure Barre!! So glad you are doing it, it is wonderful exercise!
