An Open Letter to Weight Watchers...

To the powers that be at Weight Watchers:

I won't waste your time. I'll get right to the point:

Your current choice for a spokesperson SUCKS!

According to an article released in People, "My body is not bouncing back like a supermodel," says Simpson. "I'm just your everyday woman who is trying to feel good and be healthy for her daughter, her fiancé and herself."

(Sorry mom!)

Yes, Jessica Simpson is not a super model, but she's not the every day woman either. If she thinks she is, she's kidding herself. Your marketing department is also kidding itself.

No everyday woman that I know has the opportunity to drop off the kid at the nanny to go workout with a world renowned trainer four to five times a week. She also doesn't shovel in the food like there is no tomorrow because she's getting paid to lose weight to the tune of $4 MILLION DOLLARS post-pregnancy!

Your choice not only sucks, but it pisses me off.

You see, I've been on your program for the past six months.

It works.

As in, I've lost 50 pounds and only have 39 pounds to go works.

But I have done it all myself.

I don't have a world renowned trainer.
I don't get paid to lose the weight. In fact, I pay to use your services!
I don't have someone to cook my meals for me.

I am not naive enough to know how the system works. She's a businesswoman. You're a business. You get a big star, you think you'll get more business.

But don't lie to everyone and act like what she  is doing is inspiring.

Because it's not.

I am not inspired by Jessica Simpson.

You know who inspires me? All of the other real women I know who are on Weight Watchers and work at it every day.
An every day woman has to motivate herself almost every day to make better food choices and to get in exercise between work, school, or taking care of kids WITHOUT  the option of nannies, world renowned trainers and a very lucrative deal.

So what's my point you might ask?

Am I going to walk away from Weight Watchers? No, I'm not. It works for me.

What I want is respect.

But all us every day people are getting from you is a slap in the face by showing that you care more about your image than you do the every day person's fight to be healthy.

Hopefully, next time you'll pick a REAL every day person AFTER they've lost the weight doing the program the old-fashioned way.

Really disappointed with her as the spokeswoman as well. You and so many other women who have lost it the right way are so much more inspiring!
