Dear Passive Aggressive Facebook Posters,
Do yourself a favor and just put the computer or cell phone down before you post something stupid. Because really, you look unprofessional, rude, and immature. I know you get some kind of release from posting that crap, but honestly, you just look stupid. So just walk away and get your frustration out by actually talking to the person that pissed you off like a grown-up or go work out. Either option is a healthy one and is much smarter than what you're currently doing.

Dear Michigan Weather,
It is the end of May. That means it's time for warm weather. So get on board and warm the hell up! I'm not asking nicely anymore. I need to get my runs in and this rain crap is a pain in the butt.

Dear June,
I realize that you are here tomorrow, but I wish you were here today.

Dear Oklahoma City Thunder,
Please pull your head out and tie up the series!

Happy Thursday y'all!

Wednesday is "Progress" Day.

Progress (noun) 1. Movement, as toward a goal; advance. 2. Development or growth

I just thought y'all would like to see some of the progress, my sister and I have made so far this year. These aren't "Before and After" pictures, but rather "During" or "Progress" pictures.

We're not finished fighting this battle just yet, but HEY at least we've still got a smile on our face!

Happy Wednesday!

Healthy Train Tuesdays...

This Week's Loss: -1.2 pounds

Total Loss: 36.8 pounds

What I craved this week: Nothing because I pretty much ate everything in sight. I was home and it was BAD.

What I noticed was different about my body: When I eat like crap, my body feels like crap. When I eat well, my body feels well.
Work-Outs I did this week: I did two runs this week and it is probably what prevented me from gaining more than I did. It will take a bit to get back in the groove, but I survived my runs which was my goal. I went with my brother and sister. They kept me going.
Personal Goal for this week: Continue to hit my runs and get back on track big time. I'm ready to start cranking out some milestones.

Favorite Quote for this week: "No matter how slow you run, you're always lapping the person sitting on the couch."

So what are your goals for this week on the Healthy Train?

Happy Tuesday!

Mumbling on Memorial Monday...

I mumble sometimes on Mondays. It's a thing. You get used to it.

  • First of all, Blogger is being DUMB. They currently are SLACKING majorly by not updating my blog in my readers' blogroll area. HMPH! Hear me Blogger??? H.M.P.H. I do not appreciate this pain in the butt issue and I hope it is FIXED soon!!! (Now that I got THAT out of my system...MOVING ON! But seriously! Blogger fix this crap ASAP!)
  • We are in Oklahoma!! We have seen family and friends that we love. It will be hard to go back to Michigan. I know I wrote a post on Saturday about Michigan being another home for us and it is. But Oklahoma definitely is home home.
  • I am obsessed with all things Duck Dynasty. Booyah Jack!
  • Went running while I was here. It was a hot one both times.
  • Jim Morrison and The Doors might be one of my all-time favorite bands.
  • I hope I lost weight this week because being home was ROUGH in the food department. There is just too much that I don't get up in Michigan here.
  • My sister has lost 51.4 pounds at this point!! Isn't that awesome?!?
  • I really have tried to stop myself, but I love the Kardashians. I do. I know this is awful. I hope I don't lose readers over it.
Happy Monday y'all!

"The Rainbow Connection"

Two years ago today I wrote this post.

I blogged about how everything is green and All! THE! TREES!

I also said that everyone said the snow wasn't awful. Baaaaaaaahahahahahaha!! I mean we had a regular winter the first year and a really mild winter the second year.

I also said that Michigan weather is just like Oklahoma weather without the tornadoes.

I mean...Yeah. It's not like Oklahoma weather. Not so much.

I still love it all the same.

Michigan this past year has become like another home to us. We love the people and all the places we've seen. Of course, we love love love our church.

My parents wanted us to have more than what they did in life. They've pushed me to dream big and they encourage Brandon the same. Because of them, I've seen places like Norman, Oklahoma and Ann Arbor, Michigan.

I had the traditional college experience and moved away from home and lived in the dorms and was a sorority girl. And although my law school experience isn't the most traditional since I'm married and started a couple years after graduating undergrad, it still is traditional because we made a move across the country and got out of our comfort zones. Isn't that what education is all about? Entertaining thoughts, ideas, people, theories, opinions, and locations that aren't your own and then deciding what you think about them. I think it's one form of education.

I am so happy that we have shared this experience together. I can't wait to see what the next year brings in Michigan. I'm looking forward to all our new experiences and more of the same ones as well.

So this post is for all "the lovers, the dreamers and me."

Happy Saturday y'all!

Wednesday is "PSA" Day.

PSA: Public Service Announcement

Listen, y'all.

I'm all for being excited about TV shows on The Twitter. It's one of the things that makes the world of The Twitter so dang fun.

I used to blithely tweet about all that was happening during Sons of Anarchy mainly. On occasion, I'd do it during other shows I watched. I used to be ridiculous during awards shows.

Three weeks ago, that all changed.

You see, I've stuck by Grey's Anatomy since my senior year of college. (That's when it started FYI. Hope you can figure out when that year is because I prefer not to discuss how long ago that time frame is. Thankyouverymuch.)

Some people have jumped off the bandwagon because it's not realistic, George died, Izzie left (although no love lost here for me) etc.

But I remained faithful.

Well Grey's was getting good again a few weeks ago. It was like the days of old.

I went on Twitter to see what everyone was up to on commercial. I wasn't fast-forwarding through through the commercials because I was doing homework or rather I was supposed to be doing homework. We'll call it multi-tasking.

And then, it happened...

Someone basically laid out the episode in less than 140 characters.

I. Was. Livid.

It was as if the violater was Danielle Staub and had said, "Teresa! There are two things that are true about me in the book: I was arrested and I had my name changed!! Pay Attention PUHLEEZE!!"

And I was Teresa Giudice. You know, before she went off the deep end and everyone loved her! Of course, it was like I was yelling,  "I am paying attention. Obviously, there has to be else. You were effing engaged! 19 effing times!!"

You get the picture.

(And yes, just in case you were wondering, I quoted that from memory. I know you're impressed right now. What can I say? My fount of useless information knows no bounds.)

Then Fauna, the Fairy Godmother that wears green, who happens to sit on my left shoulder said, "Oh but remember deary, you've done this too."

The point, moral, and PSA of this little story?

Do unto others as you would have them done unto you. And when you don't, apologize, repent of your ways and sin no more woman!!

In other words, please don't post spoilers on The Twitter anymore. It's not nice!!

Happy Wednesday!

Healthy Train Tuesdays...

I've decided that I'm going to post about my weight loss once a week.

I want it to be more organized, but also still keeping myself accountable at the same time by putting it out there.

Because I weigh in on Tuesdays, that's when I'll post. If I hit milestones or have a rough workout session with my trainer, then I may post more than once.

I need ideas for what I should call this weekly post. Got any? For now, it's Healthy Train Tuesdays.

At some point, I will post Before and After pictures and my number. My pride is currently winning the battle of not posting. Plus, I kinda want to wait on the Before and After shots until I hit one of my big goals.

This Week's Loss: 3.8 pounds

Total Weight Loss So Far: 38.0 pounds

What I craved this Week: Nothing, but that was because I was sick this last week so I had no appetite.

What I noticed was different about my body: My boobs are shrinking big time. I really need to buy new bras, but spending that kind of money almost takes the fun out of it. Oh well, guess I'll be getting fitted soon because I don't know what size I am anymore.

Work-Outs I did this week: I went for walks with Brandon this week because I was sick and couldn't breathe all that well.

Personal Goal for this coming week: Hit all my runs.

Favorite Quote for this week: "Don't break the cycle of activity."

Happy Tuesday!

Wednesday is "Truthfully" Day.

Truthfully: telling or disposed to tell the truth

Truthfully, this week has sucked.

I got sick and got my monthly visit on the same day.  LOVELY.

Truthfully, I am a Negative Nancy lately.

I am down 34.2 pounds as of this point. That's great. It really is, BUT I sometimes get stuck on wanting results RIGHT! THIS! SECOND!

Truthfully, I am sick of blogging. I feel like I'm in a rut. I don't feel like y'all want to hear another post about my weight loss. I also don't have a whole lot to say right now. So this sorta break probably came at a good time.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going back to bed.

Happy Wednesday

With a bit of rock music, everything is fine.

  • On Sunday afternoon, I was avoiding doing homework working on homework when my interest "just happened" to be peaked when I saw the movie version of Mamma Mia! was available to watch through OnDemand. I knew my baby sister was obsessed with the movie and soundtrack, but never had watched it myself. I'm a musical lover. I also am a lover of Rock-n-Roll. This musical is the perfect combination of both.Y'all. I'm hooked. I've watched the movie no less than six times since Sunday. I ran to the soundtrack on Tuesday. I ordered the movie. And yet I'm completely devastated because I can't go see it in musical due to prior scheduling of events. I also have watched the geeky interviews with the stars of the movie. Of course, I just LOVE Meryl Streep.
  • I haven't had deli meat since some day in March. If I knew exactly when it would make me seriously depressed. I also haven't had pizza since then.
  • I am still obsessed with all things Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. Today I read that the Queen is in support of Kate's firstborn being head of the monarch, whether girl or boy. Rock on to girl power Liz!
  • I signed up for Birchbox. I am excited for this. I've wanted to get on the skincare bandwagon for awhile, but I'm like a duck out of water when it comes to this stuff. I feel like this will be a good way for me to experiment.
Happy Thursday!

Wednesday is "Domestic" Day.

Domestic: governmental; political

Some of you may know that my undergrad major was political science, but I'm sure the vast majority of you don't know that I geared my courses toward domestic policy. While some people have a passion for the world outside of the US, that's not me. I've always had a passion for our great country. Becoming an attorney is part of what I believe is God's path for my life.

That being said, yesterday's vote in North Carolina has this Southern Baptist Moderate Democrat reeling.

(Pick your jaw up off the floor. Southern Baptists can be Democrats too.)

(Also, Southern Baptists from Oklahoma AKA "the reddest state" in the US can be Democrats too!)

When you think about this issue, you can't help but consider the spiritual along with the political.

Politically speaking, on policy only, of course, I think this Amendment 1 is crap. I know that's not very eloquent of me, but there it is. I am sitting here watching an episode of Private Practice and a patient is  dying. His dad from whom he is estranged, shows up and demands to put his son on life support. His partner knows that is not what he wants. Unfortunately, because he has no advance directive making his partner his proxy, his dad gets to call the shots. I don't think this should be an option.

Further, I have no problem with civil unions because I think that would grant the rights necessary to avoid these very situations from happening. Of course, states like North Carolina, voted otherwise.

I get tripped up on the word "marriage" because I believe there is a difference between a union and a marriage. A union is sponsored by the state. A marriage is a sacred union (a holy sacrament, if you will)  between a man and a woman as the Bible says. I think that when the preacher says at the end of a wedding, "And now by the power invested in me, by God and by the State of Oklahoma..." there is a breakdown in the union and the marriage. I think they're separate. I hope you followed that. So for me personally, I struggle with the word marriage, but if that is the word that is the chosen vernacular, then I think I can make my peace with it.

And thennnnnn....

I consider the spiritual aspect of things.

I believe that the Bible is very clear on homosexuality. I believe that it is a sin and I don't believe that makes me a bigot for thinking so either. I also happen to believe that having malice in your heart towards someone and openly hating someone for being different is a sin as well. There is no difference in the two, because Jesus Christ died for both.

I think that this issue won't be left up to me or to anyone else at the end of the day. I think that God is the ultimate Judge. So spending our time arguing over whether homosexuality is a choice or a lifestyle is completely pointless. We all have our views anyway.

And the Great Commission that we were given as Christians was not about pointing out each other's flaws.

"Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”-Matthew 28:18-20

So the question becomes, how do I reconcile my beliefs?

Happy Wednesday.

She would meringue and do the cha-cha...

I've been known to break out into party of one dance parties in really embarrassing places. The usual suspects are my car, the house with the shades wide open, the grocery store, and when I'm on my walking intervals for my Couch to 10k workout.

But last Fall, I broke out the dance party in a study room at the library.

I thought no one could see me. Annnnnd I totally was busted by some of my best pals.

I was dancing to one of my favorite songs, "I'm Sexy and I Know It" by LMFAO. It's kinda been my song.

Well, kids, I need a new song.

So come on tell me. What are some of your very favorite tunes that make you want to just dance your heart out?

Happy Tuesday!

A pretty Sunday afternoon...

Even though I'm working on homework, I'm finding myself enjoying this afternoon.

How about a little random thoughts on a Sunday?

  • The weather is finally getting warm here.
  • I need to paint my nails and shave my legs.
  • I really think I'm going to like my classes this summer. I can't believe we have just a little over a year left here.
  • I signed up for the Birchbox deal today. I'm pretty jazzed about it.
  • On Friday night, we went to see The Avengers and hit up Old Navy. I thought there were no cuss words and completely raved about it afterwards on the Twitter. I later found out that between the huge audience and my one bathroom trip, I missed a couple of them. But I still stand by the fact that it is my favorite of the Marvel Comics movies thus far. If you're a fan of the series, you should definitely see it.
  • We had a Cinco de Mayo party last night. It wasn't anything major, but I had a great time. I still need to finish picking things up from it.
  • The post I published on Friday was written on Thursday night. I posted a new photo of myself on Facebook that same night. I woke that morning to several compliments and it totally made my day. Then when I went for my run on Saturday, my trainer saw me while he was driving in his car and he said that he totally didn't recognize me. It was definitely a boost I needed.
Well I better get to the rest of my day.

Happy Sunday y'all!

Losing Weight isn't always kicking butt and taking names.

When I started this journey, I was determined to:
  • Eat Right.
  • Remembering Moderation is Key.
  • Workout Five Times a Week.
  • Work on Self Discipline.
And I still am determined to do those things.

The newness of this chapter of my life has worn off. BIG. TIME.

A few weeks ago, I wondered whether or not having a food addiction was a real thing like having an alcohol addiction or a drug addiction. I still am wondering about it. As of right now, I kind of think it is, especially considering the way I'm craving a Sonic cheeseburger, Cheez-Its, Red Velvet Cheesecake, and cheese fries dipped in ranch like my life depended on it. I haven't had those foods in MONTHS by the way...just in case you were wondering.

My motivation was and is hanging by a thread.

And THEN...

I read this post

My eyes watered immediately when I read it, because I so so so identified with this feeling.

Weight loss is not glamorous. Not one bit.

I knew this because I'd did it during college.

You would have thought I was prepared for it.

But I wasn't.

Weight Loss is a friggin' marathon. I relate it to law school because that's what they've hammered into us from day one.

It's hard. Some days there are rewards, like when you lose weight, or someone gives you a compliment on how well you look. But most days, it's a challenge.

Right now, even though I'm eating healthy and running outside again since the weather is nice, I really don't want to do it.

I've got to make my peace with the fact that right now, this losing weight journey thing is going to suck for a little while.

I know one thing will pay off. Of that I am sure.

So far I've lost 31 pounds and it hasn't been for nought.

Happy Friday y'all!

Blogging chronicles: marriage, school, move, school.

Four years ago tonight, I sat down and decided to make a blog. One of my best biffles from college had moved to NEW YORK CITY!!-said in my best Pace Picante sauce commercial voice-and we thought this would be a fun way to keep in touch.

I picked the name based on my love of the Wizard of Oz, my love of turtles, and my love of politics.

From there, I just kept swimming blogging.

I've blogged about the beginning of our marriage, graduating from undergrad officially, Brandon graduating undergrad, getting into law school, moving across the country for law school, what life is like North of the Mason-Dixon Line, the journey to getting fit and just about everything in between.

I LOVE the relationships that I've made on this journey and I cannot wait to see what my fourth year of blogging brings.

I really hope part of it includes me being skinniesh again!

Happy Thursday and Happy Blogiversary to my sweet readers...aka Y'ALL!!

Wednesday is "Recap" Day.

Recap: give a summary of; go back over

I think a recap is fitting for a blog that has the word times in its title...

Last fall, I wrote this post. We were broke as a joke at the time.

After working for almost two months with a job in his field, B got an offer to work his dream job.

Since then, B has been working hard for the same company. He loves it and was recently given a raise for his hard work.

I am so proud of him. He is thriving in this environment and it is absolutely wonderful to watch him be happy in his work.

This fall he will be finished with his MBA. I have to admit, I'm a bit jealous that he'll be finished before I will.

That's just a slight recap on where my great hubby is and what he's up to these days. You know...just in case you were wondering!

Happy Wednesday!

Six word memoirs rock my socks.

Do know what a six word memoir is? It is a memoir/novel in six words. Pretty straight forward right? I first heard about them in college from my biffle, Emily. If you're still curious, check out this website.

Today, I'm going to write six, six word memoirs about the month of May. Hope you enjoy.

  1. Blogging chronicles: marriage, school, move, school.
  2. Determined to hit milestone before Oklahoma.
  3. Do like the Ann Arborites do.
  4. Sun, where the hell are you?????
  5. It's only over a year left.
  6. Working hard and play hard now.
What are some six word memoirs for your life lately?

Happy May y'all!!
