The Latest on the Weight Loss Front

I mentioned last week that I had some news regarding butter and lunch meat. This is that post.

I’ve started formally working with a trainer. I’ve been at it for a little over two weeks now.

He is a pal from school. He's certified. He knows I'm blogging about this part of my weight loss, but has asked to remain anonymous on my blog.  I don't know what I'm going to call him. I'm sure I will have a few choice words for him at some point. But for now, he is just "The Trainer."

Because it's near the end of the semester and we're both busy studying for finals, things haven't been too heavy yet. However, if what he has already changed in my life so far is any indicator of how hard he plans to push me, we may headed for rocky waters.

The general theme of my plan is accountability and moderation. I've always been a huge believer in moderation anyways and it's one of the reasons why I like Weight Watchers so well so far. The general plan is for me to eat 5 small meals throughout the day, I have to exercise at a minimum of 4 times a week, and drink lots of water. I check in with him every two weeks. I have to write down everything in a journal.

It doesn't sound too bad right?

Well here's the kicker.

Homeboy went straight for my jugular and wants me to back off of sodium and dairy in addition to fatty foods.

I get the fatty foods thing. I once went an entire year without eating pizza and french fires. It was a Lenten project that I started when I lost all my weight during college and then I just kept going. So backing off of fatty foods, makes sense to me.

But giving up salt and dairy?

That's a whole different story. Now listen, I'm not giving it up entirely. I still can have it in moderation, but "The Trainer" prefers that I stay away from it.

If I could convey how much I love dairy to you, I'd sum it up in the following compound sentence:
I used to eat butter by itself as a kid and I would eat cheese off a dirty boot.

My love is deep and wide, friends. DEEP. AND. WIDE.

I'm not a picky eater. Adding fruits and veggies like I have so far hasn't been an issue. But taking away my cheese. Lord have mercy, you would have thought someone shot my momma.

My second love affair, salt is no better. When I crave food or have had a bad day and want to reach for something, it usually has to do with salt.

Yeah, well, that ain't exactly an option for this emotional eater anymore. (Yes momma, I said ain't.)

I know I sound like a whiney brat with a serious first world problem. But I just needed a minute to complain. I'm trying to put  the loss of cheese and salt (including my beloved deli meat) behind me. I'm sure I've got my big girl panties around here somewhere. I guess I needed to mourn it here too. Plus, I figured y'all would want to know about "The Trainer."

The other two indicators that have me a bit concerned?
  1. Last week I was talking about the Biggest Loser and about how Bob threatened to cut off a girl's ponytail if she didn't get her butt in gear, I heard a maniacal chuckle and saw a glimmer in his eye, that sent chills down my spine.
  2. Last night I had the munchies bad. I didn't even know what I wanted to eat, just that I wanted to eat. I sent a text saying that I had the munchies something bad. I also said that I'd looked in the pantry and fridge and deep freeze. I also mentioned that B told me to get out of there. I got a text back that said to stay the course. He then also sent a text to B telling him to keep up the good work. He is definitely going to hold my feet to the fire.
Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to the results that are to come. I mean I did lose five pounds last week.

I'm just only a little terrified of what one of our workouts will be like.

Happy April and Happy Sunday ya'll!

P.S. I will probably be a little more MIA than usual the next two weeks due to finals.
