Shake Your Groove Thang.

Every person's got it.

Somewhere down deep inside of them there is a place where you make magic happen.

Mojo.

Now, before y'all think Samantha's gone dirty on her blog, pull your head out of the gutter.

I'm talking about a specific kind of mojo.

Study Mojo.

I would say that a large population of my readers are educated in some form.

Some went to college.
Some went to grad school.
Some are getting their doctorate. (Holla b.e.g.!)
Some went to beauty school.
Some went to high school.

Yes, even the mommies who read this blog were students. They had a whole life that happened before their babies came along too. In fact some of the mommy bloggers who read this very blog are among some of the most educated people that I know who are among the audience that read the blog.

The point?

The point is that at some time in each one of your lives you were a student of some sort.

And we all had certain things in order to be prepared for exams.

We had rituals.

I can tell you that my rituals in college are a joke in comparison to what I do now.

You see today is what is affectionately referred to as "Move-In" Day at the law library.

It's the point in the semester when we literally are at the library round the clock.

I mean we are in the library pretty regularly anyway, but now is when we get cranky because the library closes and we have to move and potentially ruin our mojo we've got goin' for that day.

You see the thing about law school or any doctorate program for that matter is that it is a marathon.

And people who run marathons have to be in the best shape of their lives.

We have to eat right, sleep right, exercise right, and study right.

I didn't really see the point of exercise until this summer and I only noticed the difference recently and that was because my husband told me about it. He said that he'd noticed my stress levels aren't as high because I run it out of my system when things get rough.

And I do feel better.

I'd be lying if I told you that sometimes we're a bit superstitious about the way we study.

But for me, it changes every semester. I still do some of the same things. I find a seat I like, some music that keeps me productive and a snack/drink that I can graze on all day long.

This semester my mojo is all about the $1 Unsweet Tea, Blow-Pops, the soundtracks from the Twilight series, to-do lists on legal paper, and a certain desk that allows me to see outside just enough that I don't lose track of things.

At the end of the day when I walk out of the library with a to-do list checked off save the stuff that only can be done at home, it makes me want to shake my groove thang.

So I guess my question is this: What did you do to get your study mojo on?

Happy Saturday.

P.S. Posting will be a little sporadic from me for the next two weeks, but don't worry my sister is blogging and I've got a few posts up my sleeve.

I am 100% a crammer. I would not be able to do something so study-intensive as law school just because I tend to procrastinate and end up researching AND writing my term papers in one sitting.

Props to you!
