Wednesday is "Eighth Grade" Day.

Eighth Grade: a year in schooling that can be traumatizing for any young adolescent.

Today, my brother and sister start the 8th grade.

They are pretty cool kids and I am super proud of them. They have great friends and share many of the same as they run in the same social circle.

Loren is a cheerleader, super smart and groovy in a far out way hippie. She and I happen to be similar in lots of ways. She wants to be a dermatologist. I'm still holding out that she'll wanna be like me.
(she's the one on the if you couldn't tell.)

Will is also very smart, SUPER funny, and a jock all the way. Football season starts soon and I can't wait to hear about all his great blocks and sacks of the game. He also happens to like a certain baseball enemy of any Yankees fan which shall remain nameless. He's young, what can I say?
(Bubba at the UM baseball fields...and that NASTY hat of his.)

The 8th grade was a great year for me personally. I got contacts and rid of my braces and felt so pretty. I was on my way out of the awkward stage of life I thought.

I was still playing softball, both fast and slow pitch, in the catcher's position and of course boy crazy.

No there are no pictures for your viewing pleasure, but if you need a reference see Little Miss Hippie above for a good guestimation as to how I looked but think Joey Potter from Dawson's Creek. I dressed like her a lot then.

I was in 8th grade in 1998. The two teenyboppers above were a whopping 2 years old.

Yeah. That's all I'm gonna say about that.

Other notable events include:

  • President Clinton was impeached by the House of Representatives and later acquitted of all charges.
  • Google was founded.
  • Dale Earnhardt Sr. won Daytona. (My dad is a Nascar man. What of it?)
  • Dawson's Creek started.
  • Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On and Aerosmith's I Don't Want to Miss a Thing were top hits thanks to top movies, Titanic and Armageddon respectively.
  • Britney Spears was only 16 years old and had her first major hit.
My classes were Honors Algebra I, Honors Science, Honors English, Federal Government, Select Choir, and Athletics.

Life was simple. My biggest worries were what to wear to school and whether or not I'd survive Mrs. Crawford's vocabulary quizzes each day. I think this was also about the time I started my love affair with all things Kennedy.

And I LOVED every minute.

Hope your first day back is great bub and seestur.

Happy Wednesday!

Talking about 8th grade is traumatizing for me.

So instead, we will focus on the glaring issue in this post.

For the love, Will, please, open your eyes and heart and find it in you to accept the way, the truth, and the light that is the New York Yankees. I mean, you ARE wearing blue & white in that picture that your sissy posted! Freudian slip? :)

Hi y'all! The name's Samantha. You can call me Sam if you like. I am a lover to a boy I met at Falls Creek in the summer of 2005, that is a student of Jesus, a Sooner born and Sooner bred and when I die I'll be Sooner dead, Democrat by party, blonde to the core, and oldies but goodies kind of girl.
