A Bouquet of Newly Sharpened Pencils...

"Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address. On the other hand, this not knowing has its charms." -Joe Fox from You've Got Mail

Obviously, I'm not in New York, but I'm beginning to get a little snippet of Fall Fever that seems to be making its way around the South. At first, I resisted because well we're experiencing weather in the 80s here and so it doesn't really feel like summer.

(Side note: The weatherman while giving his report the other day said it was a "stifling" 85 degrees outside. Yeah, pop came out of my nose because I laughed so hard at THAT one.)
However, my tune has changed and I owe it all to school supplies.

I haven't had the opportunity to buy school supplies for myself since 2007. Yeah, I got to buy office supplies but I promise you it is NOT the same. So, I decided that I'd make this post about my list of must haves for back to school!
  1. A Planner: If I can see where I'm going it makes my life more manageable. I can see what tasks I need to tackle and also how far I've come.
  2. A Good Backpack: I am in the market for a new one so please give your suggestions in this area. I used Jansport through college, but am open to suggestion.
  3. A Cut and Color: Mock me if you must, but y'all having roots in class is NOT okay. However, this would mean that I have the nerve to step into a new salon up here.
  4. Pens: I am a medium ballpoint kind of girl. And the Xenon Retractable Rollerball Pen by Itoya are my FAVORITE of all time. I used to be a Pentel R.S.V.P. Pen girl, but I've gladly switched my allegiance.
  5. Notebooks/Legal Pads: I usually use Five Star and as for the legal pads, well this will be new.
  6. Binders: It is far easier to keep up with notes if they are organized as well.
  7. Highlighters: These have dual purposes. I color-coordinate everything in my planner. I also highlight in my books what their color is in the planner.
  8. Computer/Printer: I have both, but I am sure they will be just as important if not more this go round.
  9. Sticky Notes/Paper Clips/Stapler: While these are mundane, they are still a must.
  10. A Good Working Space: I want to get a new desk so my working space is just right. I have to be able to focus and have the least distractions possible when I'm studying.

What are your must-haves?

Happy Monday!

P.S. Today is an important day in rock-n-roll history! Do you know what it is?

I'm partial to LL Bean Boat & Tote, monogrammed backpacks. I've been carrying them for the majority of my grad career. In undergrad, I was a fan of the North Face shoulder bags, they have nice compartments and padding for your laptop.

And Sharpie pens, fine tip, black ink. Try it. Life-changing. Penmanship looks AMAZING in these pens!

I just got a new planner last night, SO EXCITED!!!!

This year I am folding the pages in half to indicate where we are in the planner, last year I used a paper clip, but it wasn't my favorite. How do you like to identify the correct week in your planner?

I miss school supplies! And I'm a tote girl. Haven't used a backpack in a while.

But a planner? Be still my beating heart!

Hi y'all! The name's Samantha. You can call me Sam if you like. I am a lover to a boy I met at Falls Creek in the summer of 2005, that is a student of Jesus, a Sooner born and Sooner bred and when I die I'll be Sooner dead, Democrat by party, blonde to the core, and oldies but goodies kind of girl.
