Back on the Fit Train

Last month, I blogged about getting back on the fit train.

And the truth of the matter is that I've been on the fit train before. I lost about 45 pounds my freshman year of college. I ran every day. I like cardio workouts. I hate running, but I liked the high afterward and the results that it brought.

I went home and continued to work out until I had my tonsils out and I lost more weight. So I was down 55 pounds at this point.

And then I gained the ten pounds back. It wasn't that big of a deal to me because I was happy with where I was before I lost it.

I was at a size 8/10 depending on where I shopped. I loved it. I'd always been fluctuating between a 12/14 for awhile. So I was proud of where I was.

Plus I am only 5'4'' on a good day. So this was a major difference in look for me.

Went back to school my sophomore year and still worked out off and on. I went up a size and was then wearing a size 10/12. I really was okay.

And then that summer I met my husband. I went down in weight again that summer a little because my job was outside. My husband dropped weight like crazy because he was drinking only water and well boys have it easier when it comes to losing weight. At least, that's my experience with us. That fall we were in love and went on lots of dates. We liked our food.

And I then proceeded to gain the weight back and then some.

I am now at a size 16.

It is not glamorous. But there it is. I'm not going to put out how much I weigh just because I'm not. I'll tell you in a year maybe.

But the point is that I'm back on the fit train.

I'm running and walking again.

I have cut out pop.

I am eating smaller portions.

And that's basically it. It's nothing fancy.

It's just me taking care of me.

Just thought you'd like to know.

Happy Monday.

Good for you!! I totally get what you mean about the "high" after doing some form of cardio.

But portion control is NOT an area of strength for myself. I tend to give husband a bigger portion for dinner than myself, but I always find myself wanting as much food as him!

I feel SOOO much better now that I am back "on the train" but that doesn't mean I love it or that it's easy all the time. I love food!! And I love being lazy sometimes! But that "high" after the cardio is great! I do smaller portions, too, and in general just more fruits, veggies, and lean meats. Good for you for getting back on!!! You'll do great!

Yay for you! Don't you feel a million times better after a nice brisk walk? I walked a mile last night and even though I was exhausted from lugging around this belly, the endorphin high is like nothing else.

Portion control makes a big difference. I've found that even what I think I'm eating is normally bigger than what it should be. I don't know if that makes sense, but when I thought I was eating 1/2 a cup of something, I would actually end up eating a full cup.

I bought a little scale to help me with that.

Good for you getting back on the fit train.

I am very proud of you!!! I lost 16 pounds last summer for my brothers wedding, I gained most of it back by this year. Then I saw my best friend from High school for my 30th birthday in May. She had lost 40 pounds and looked marvelous! I took her aside and asked "ok what is the secret?" She took Alli for 1 month, lost 7 pounds, with the Alli she cut out Mayonaise, cheese, butter and all pop or sodas. Then she continued to eat healthy and walk 30 minutes each day. After 8 months she had lost 40 pounds and continues to keep it off (she has 2 kids). So I got Alli and started with it, I also lost 7 pounds in a month! I know it's controversial for some to take it but I didn't have any side effects and it helped jump start my weight loss. I have now lost 10 pounds in 2 months and continue to lose. Keep up the good work, I am excited for you!!!

You can do this, girl. The exercise high is addictive. You'll do great. You'll get hooked, and show those Michigan wives who's boss!

Also, have you always said pop? Because I think you might have just picked something up from those N. Midwesterners! Didn't know they called Coke/soda that in OK!
