Wednesday is "Grinch" Day.

Grinch: to gripe or complain about stuff peripheral to holidays (e.g. traffic, crowds at the mall, etc.)

I am not a Grinch. I know several people who are. I'm sure y'all do too. I don't really get the cranky attitude in general, except when it comes to traffic.

I know y'all know I love Christmas, but I would only do a dis-service to the holiday season if I didn't talk about how sometimes we let our Grinch side get the best of us.

Today was one of those days for me.

As you may or may not know, I have some legendary road rage.

I was on my way to work. I passed through a light and was going straight. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a big ole Lincoln Continental pull out from my church and for a second, I thought she was going to stay in the center lane. And a second later, I realized that she was TURNING!!

I was going 45 at this point. (This was the speed limit by the way.)

I barely got it shut down because that's how late she decided to turn.

I was also honking my horn like crazy.

I barely missed rear-ending her.

I took a deep breath and started to push on the accelerator.

I wasn't going to flip her off. I don't do that. I'm a lady thankyouverymuch.

I just planned to give her the stare-down was all.

I pulled up beside her at the stop light.

I checked myself in the mirror.

I am having a fabulous hair day, I thought.

I looked over, pushed my shades down to shoot the "kiss my butt" look and THE OLD GRANNY WAS FLIPPING ME OFF!!

I couldn't help myself.

I rolled down my window.

The following conversation ensued:

Me: Excuse me, but WHY are YOU flipping me off? You pulled out in FRONT of ME!
Hateful Old Lady: You should have been paying attention!
Me: You didn't even look before you pulled out! So you should have been paying attention!
Hateful Old Lady: Oh whatever.
Me: Whatever is my generation's word, YOU OLD LADY!

And then I peeled off the line to leave her in the dust.

I know it was bad. I'm sure I lost a few readers over this deal.

But sometimes, Grinch happens.

On a completely non-Christmas and Educational Wednesday related matter, today is Paisley Noel's 1st Birthday!

And you know what that means...

It means you're to press play and jump around and have a 2 minute and 43 second dance party wherever you are.

And in case you were wondering, Paisley loves the color red and all things blingy!

Happy Wednesday and Merry Christmas

Oh, honey, you know I was Grinchin' it up like whoa yesterday!

Don't feel bad! I'm sorry that mean old Lincoln Continental driver was an idiot! Glad you practice defensive driving!

I don't do road rage...rage implies impulsive actions on one's part. I consider myself very cold and calculating when it comes to driving....justsayin...

Merry Birthday Paisley...
