Why I don't like Halloween....

If there was an Ebenezer Scrooge for Halloween, I'm talking leader of the pack on the hater squad for this holiday...consider yourself formally introduced.

My name is Samantha and I do NOT like Halloween.

Now that we have the formalities out of the way....

I know most of you think it is not humanly possible to live in this world without liking Halloween, but trust me it's possible. In fact, I've been doing a very good job of it for quite some time.

Oh sure, the pumpkins are cute, the mums are breath-taking and the candy is great, but that is where the love ends.

There are 3 big reasons why I hate Halloween.

The first is the biggest of them all.

You see the reason that I hate Halloween is because I'm afraid of the dark.

I know this isn't a new revelation here at the Ruby Turtle Hippie Times, but seriously I am.

And there is no amount of "but dressing up is so much fun" protests that can convince me otherwise.

It's not that I disagree with the holiday or that it's against my religion.

I just am flat out afraid of the dark.

I know it's silly, but I can't handle scary movies that deal with spirits like "The Shining" or "The Exorcist".

Not kidding people, I can't even watch the Dawson's Creek episode where they go to Witch Island without having a bad dream.

No. Way.

Read my lips--well as much as you can on here--: Movies like that make me have nightmares.

Secondly, all and I mean ALL the weirdos of this world come out in fine form. Those of you that go to fun parties are kindly NOT included.

I'm talking about the people who dress like death basically. They weird me smooth out. It's like Halloween has its own full moon and weird things happen just because they can on Halloween.

Finally, I hate Halloween because this is the beginning of horrible candies during the holiday season. There's chocolate covered cherries at Christmas, Peeps at Easter, but the worst of all and the jump start to this bad decision making process is: Candy Corn.

I know at this point you're officially sitting behind your screen aghast at what has just come out of my mouth.

This quite possibly is the most ridiculous and irrational reason you've read thus far, but I couldn't be more serious in my opinion.

The slightest smell of candy corn and my gag reflex goes into overdrive.

So there you have it.

The Dark.
Weirdos.
Candy Corn.

All three very legit reasons in my opinion to hate Halloween.

Here's hoping the weekend passes quickly and Thanksgiving and Christmas are here before you know it.

Happy Monday!

I'm with you on counts one and two: the dark (and the being scaredy of it) and the weirdos.

I don't mind CC. Don't love it, but don't mind it.

My third thing has to be girls wearing stripper like clothes as excuses for costumes...great, now there goes my gag reflex...

Also, get this....

My Word Verification:

BOOlike

Seriously. It says Boo in there.

But only kind of.

Boo-like.

I love fall. I'm not a big fan of Halloween but it doesn't really bother me. Luke on the other hand LOVES it and gets so excited for it. haha. I love this time of the year.

I don't care for Halloween either. Like you I absolutely cannot handle weird movies.. or even stories... about weird haunted spirity stuff. Secondly as a Christian I personally don't want to even entertain thoughts of anything evil or wicked looking so I don't care for those types of costumes. I do love seeing all the different cutesie costumes though.. I think those are fun. I don't mind candy corn but don't love it either.

Hi y'all! The name's Samantha. You can call me Sam if you like. I am a lover to a boy I met at Falls Creek in the summer of 2005, that is a student of Jesus, a Sooner born and Sooner bred and when I die I'll be Sooner dead, Democrat by party, blonde to the core, and oldies but goodies kind of girl.
