13 years ago today...

Loren and Will were born in the pink hospital in Tulsa.

I will never forget the first time I saw them.

They were so little, and they grunted and yawned a lot. It had been a bit of a busy day for them so I can imagine they were tired.

Loren Elizabeth was the surprise of the day as we were told on numerous occasions that she was "for sure" a boy. She looked like a prissy missy from day one and held tight onto our dad.

William Darryl was no surprise because we were expecting two boys. He looked like a little old man inquisitive about the world around him but who also kept reaching out for his big sister (by a minute) just to make sure she was there. This was one of the first of many freaky twin things they would do and still do today.

We were so happy and proud and still are to have them as our sister and brother. I can't imagine life without them. They are miracles that I can see daily that God has given to my family. I think I told this story last year, but it's still one of my favorites.

My pappaw passed away a little over a year when we found out that mom and dad were expecting a baby. (Notice the singular form of the word.) My dad was not doing well with losing his dad and was struggling with depression.

Shortly before my pappaw passed, he told my parents they should try for one more because he knew they'd be twins. My dad told him he wasn't so sure about it. And my pappaw told him that he knew it would happen. According to my pappaw, Jessi and I "needed" two more siblings.

My dad told this story the whole first week my parents were public with their pregnancy.

A week later, we found out there were two heartbeats.

While their conception was a little bit of a surprise at first, they were never considered a surprise once we knew they were twins.

They were the necessity that Pappaw and God knew my dad and all of us would need. And if that weren't a reminder enough of pappaw living on after his death, they were born just a few days before his birthday. A little bit of a joke between God and my Pappaw if you will.

Happy Birthday LB and Bubba. We all love you and so does your Pappaw.

Aww thats such a sweet story! I totally think you should do a post of all the freaky twin things you have seen in your siblings. I love to hear stories about that kind of stuff. Twin stories are always crazy and intriguing!
