Wednesday is " Earth and Secretaries...err..Administrative Professionals" Day

Well dearies, it is that time of the week again...Educational Wednesdays.

I know you're dying to hear what I have to say...well teach you. So let's get to it. This week is a little bit of a double whammy. But so are the commercial holidays that occurred today.

Earth Day, celebrated in the US on April 22, is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment. It was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in in 1970 and is celebrated in many countries every year. This date is Spring in the Northern Hemisphere and Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere.

I celebrated Earth Day by wearing my jungle skirt and wearing green. People in the office were not surprised.

Administrative Professionals Day (formerly known as Secretary's Day) is an unofficial secular holiday observed in the United States on the Wednesday of the last full week of April, to recognize the work of secretaries, administrative assistants, receptionists and other administrative support professionals.

The bosses took us out today for lunch and it was wonderful. I think it is silly to call it Administrative Professionals Day, but whatev. I just don't get the need to be so politically correct ALL the time.

And speaking of being politically correct. I don't care what your views are on gay marriage (yes I am going there.) I do not agree with Perez Hilton giving Miss California a whopping Zero for her answer. She was gut honest and he nailed her for it because he felt she alienated the gay community. But he also in turn alienated those in her community for believing as she does. I think he is just as wrong.

Perez, just because she doesn't agree with you doesn't mean it makes her wrong. She is entitled her opinion and her beliefs just as you are.

Hello that's why we came to the United States in the first place.

Could she have worded it a little differently? Probably.

Does his wanna-be celebrity blog reek of "I'm jealous of Trent Varnegas's Pink is the New Blog" syndrome? Duh!! Oh wait...wrong blog post...

All I am saying is you've got to give it to the girl for being so honest with him. Knowing his background, she still had the gumption to be who she was and not change herself for anyone.

Naturally I like her style.

Happy Wednesday!
