Grannie's Grand Adventures of the Day

My sister, Jessi, has been watching my grannie lately. She is home for the summer and my grannie's regular caretaker is on maternity leave. Jessi was telling us tonight about how she makes Grannie a daily sheet complete with wardrobe, eats of the day, activities and a forecast! It sounds really cute. We all got a kick out of Jessi's description of these daily sheets, also known as "Grannie's Grand Adventures of the Day".

Now let's rewind a few months...

This past semester has been one of the roughest for my sister in large part because she had to make OU a place she could call her own. I had been with her for her first year and a half at OU. this semester was basically like she went away to college all over again...only it was for real this time. She was definitely out of her comfort zone to say the least. She really struggled, and a lot of people did not expect her to make it. In fact, some pulled the rug out from under her. When all of this happened, I just wanted to rush to her and be with her to make everything okay. And a few weekends I did. But in true Jessi style (and time for that matter) she pulled through this rough time with flying colors.

She decided one day that she was going to have a good day for a change and she never looked back.

Jessi bloomed and blossomed right before my eyes this semester, and I have never been so proud of her. She is one of the most courageous people I know. Jessi has always been a nurturer. She will take care of anyone at any time. She has no problem telling you how it is, especially if she thinks you need it. this background comes from several key people in her life, one of them being my Grannie.

Now fastforward to Jessi's tales of her adventures with Grannie. As I sat there listening to Jessi tell her story, my heart couldn't help but hurt. She was now taking care of the woman who took care of her every day until she was big enough to go to school. And she picks up after her, just as Grannie did her. And while my heart hurts, because my Grannie's mind will soon be forever lost. I am forever grateful to my sister for taking care of her during her last adventurous days. Jessi will make them exciting because she has found the confidence she needed from her perils of the past semester. And that makes me smile, because God's timing is perfect. And the circle of life is once again complete.

I'VE HEARD IT SAID
THAT PEOPLE COME INTO OUR LIVES FOR A REASON
BRINGING SOMETHING WE MUST LEARN
AND WE ARE LEDTO THOSE WHO HELP US MOST TO GROW
IF WE LET THEM
AND WE HELP THEM IN RETURN
WELL, I DON'T KNOW IF I BELIEVE THAT'S TRUE
BUT I KNOW I'M WHO I AM TODAY
BECAUSE I KNEW YOU...

First of all, I'm glad you're a dedicated blog poster. It makes my boring days online a lot more interesting.

Second, I miss you and Jessi times 1,000! And I'm so proud of her, too. It's great to see her blossom, and the word "nurturer" is a perfect description. Yay for her carrying on the officer tradition, too. I can't wait to see how she continues to grow.

And since Katherine had three points, I should too. Trent is on Team Hillary, though I'm sure you knew that. And he and I are FB friends now. Jealous?
